In Home Worship – Sunday, February 4, 2024 – Fifth Sunday after Epiphany

10:00 am Sunday Worship

We welcome you to worship this Sunday!

This is the first Sunday that Pr. Olaf and Pr. Kristin-Luana Baumann will lead worship at OSLC. We hope to see you here. Their worship practice is to alternate preaching and presiding duties each Sunday. This Sunday, Pr. Olaf will be the Presiding Minister, and Pr. Kristin-Luana will be the Preacher. Every week, the pastor who preaches will offer an introduction to Sunday’s sermon, titled “Sermon News”:

Sermon News: How to be a Servant Leader Mark 1:29-39

The gospel passage today describes one of many healing moments in the gospel of Mark. Jesus, together with the freshly called fishermen Simon (later known as Peter); Andrew; John; and James enter Simon’s house and learn of Simon’s mother-in-law’s sickness. Immediately, Jesus sets out to heal her. He takes her hand, the fever leaves her just as an unclean spirit would, and Jesus raises her up, back to health. But what happens next is the actual highpoint of the story! Make sure to tune in or come in person and find out what this moment has to do with the Christian concept of Diakonia!

– Pr. Kristin-Luana

The Executive Committee suggests attendees continue to wear masks in worship, principally because of singing. Please continue to stay home if feeling sick and receive Holy Communion in a safe manner. Click the link above to worship online with us, and click the button below to view the bulletin and follow along.
