Scales of justice

Im

Law and Gospel, Mark 2:23—3:6

God established a Sabbath Day, a day of rest, at the end of every work week. That day is set aside to clear our minds from the worries of everyday life and to focus on praise and prayer. Jesus feeds and heals people on the Sabbath. When the religious authorities challenge him on ‘working’ on the Sabbath, he says, “The sabbath was made for humankind, and not humankind for the sabbath; so the Son of Man is lord even of the sabbath.” What does that mean? What is the purpose of the law? Does God hold the law over us like a hammer, threatening to destroy us if we don’t obey? Or is the law a helpful tool to direct our path towards faithful living? Find out this Sunday, 10 AM, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front Street S, Issaquah, WA and on YouTube! Hope to see you there!
