Mark 10:35-45
Jesus’ disciples James and John ask to receive the place of honor at Jesus’ side. They imagine Jesus to be king in the kingdom of God, just like in the real world: king on top, court below him, rule over the common people. But Jesus says his kingdom will be ruled by servants, not kings.
The church was never called to rule; it was always called to serve God’s people. Like our quilters serve people here and elsewhere by providing quilts and other needed items through the work of Lutheran World Relief. This Sunday, the quilts will be displayed and blessed before they are shipped out to those who need them. You don’t want to miss this! Come and see at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front St S, Issaquah and on YouTube, at 10 a.m.

“Older adults are not over the hill. In fact, they have climbed the hill called life and from that hard won perch are able to see the hand of God intertwining with their lives in the past that enables them to trust the hand of God in the future.”
