This Sunday, Pr. Kristin-Luana is the presider and preacher since Pr. Olaf will be on vacation. Here is Sunday’s Sermon News:
“Let Me Look Up Again!” Mark 10:46-52
Today’s Gospel tells us about the healing of Bartimaeus. “Go, your faith has made you well,” says Jesus. Now, I don’t know how it is with you, but sometimes, when I read a healing story like this, I feel a lot of pressure! What if I need urgent healing, and my faith is not strong enough to initiate the mystery of healing?
It was helpful for me to review some of Luther’s writings in that respect. In The Freedom of a Christian, Luther makes the point with strong conviction that faith is not some work I do, some activity I pursue to get on Jesus’ good side or procure some perks through my connection with the man in power. No, faith is trust in the saving power of Jesus Christ, no matter what. Faith is independent of the state of my health or my wealth or my reputation.
Review some more of Luther’s teachings in my video class attached to this post as you prepare to commemorate Reformation Sunday. And don’t forget to wear red when you come to church this Sunday, 10 a.m., at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front Street S, Issaquah and on YouTube.

“When defined in terms of what can be measured objectively, examined in an X-ray, or captured with a camera, aging is decline. But when measured in spiritual and biblical terms, the experience of aging can become the fulfillment of life, reflecting the glory, the insight, the soul, fulfillment of a fully lived life.”
