In Home Worship – Sunday, April 13, 2025 – Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday

10:00 am Worship

This Sunday, Pr. Olaf is the presider, and Pr. Kristin-Luana is the preacher. Here is this week’s Sermon News:

Luke 19:28-40 and Luke 22:14-23:56: Who’s the King?

This Sunday is Palm and Passion Sunday. That means we will enter the sanctuary in procession, waving palm leaves as the people in Jerusalem did as Jesus came to town. But we will also read the story of Jesus’ suffering and death, called the passion story, because passion is a medieval word for suffering.

Since the fourth century AD, the Passion of Christ was chanted or read on Palm Sunday. That only changed through liturgical reforms in the 1950s and -60s. So, we are rediscovering an ancient liturgical practice now.

When Jesus enters Jerusalem, the people treat him like a king. But what kind of king is this, who behaves like a lamb rather than a lion?
