Lent invites us to look honestly at ourselves—but not just at the easy habits we can drop for forty days. The real struggle began long before chocolate and bad consciences. In Eden, humanity reached for divine knowledge and discovered responsibility instead. We know what is good. We know what is evil. The question is what we do with that knowledge. From the garden to the wilderness, humans desire to be like God and reach for divine power—while Jesus refuses to take what is not his to seize.
