In Home Worship – Sunday, September 27, 2026 – Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost

10:00 am Worship

We welcome you to worship this Sunday, either in-person at Our Savior Lutheran Church (745 Front St. S in Issaquah), or on YouTube.

On Sunday, September 27, Pr. Olaf is the presider, and Pr. Kristin-Luana is the preacher.

Here is the Sermon News:

Galatians 5:2-6:18: The Fruit of the Spirit

Paul names nine qualities of the Fruit in his letter to the Galatians: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These are the qualities of Spirit we shall discover, recover, and live out in our daily lives.

I notice that all of them are relational. Sure, there is also need for self-love, and we want to be kind to ourselves and patient with ourselves as well. But in general, we love what is outside of us. God’s beautiful creation and the people God has made. We rejoice when we notice a large, old cedar tree, the curling fern underneath it, or the little orchid we discover beside it. Our kindness, goodness, and gentleness mostly benefit those around us.

I believe that is why Paul puts the Fruit of the Spirit under the umbrella of neighbor love when he says: “For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters, only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for self-indulgence, but through love become slaves to one another. For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment: Love your neighbor as yourself” (Galatians 5:13-14).
