Sermon News Sunday, May 19, 2024, Acts 2:1-21, Pentecost Sunday!

Pentecost is considered the birthday of the church. Church in this case doesn’t mean the one, true institutional church. That kind of church never existed, even though many denominations claim that it is them. They are the true church, and if you’re not in it, God has some terrifying surprises in store for you. Do not be afraid. Whenever someone is convinced that they are more righteous, holy, or in tune with God’s will, they have broken Jesus’ command not to judge (Matthew 7:1; Luke 6:37). Don’t judge others, but especially do not judge yourself. Especially, don’t believe for one moment that God loves you more than others. And equally, don’t believe that God loves you less, will cast you away, will not know you. Do not judge means just that. Leave the judging to God. Instead celebrate the birthday of the universal church that comes to us in a multitude of expressions. We will do just that this Sunday, May 19 at 10 a.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front Street S, Issaquah, WA and on YouTube. Please come!
