Genesis 11:1-9: The Tower of Babel and Godʻs Love for Holy Scattering

This Sunday is the Day of Pentecost, the birthday of the church. The Holy Spirit touches Jesusʻ followers and sends them out into the world to spread Godʻs love which they experience in Jesus Christ.

God is passionate about sending Godʻs people out into the world. He already did so with Adam and Eve, when he asked them to be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth (Genesis 1:28). He did the same with Noahʻs family after the big flood: Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth (Genesis 9:1). God scattered the people of Babel from there over all the earth (Genesis 11: 8-9). And God sends Abram out from his country to be a blessing for all peoples on earth (Genesis 12:1-3).

God really is into “holy scattering.” God loves to send people out and connect them with other people and make them all feel Godʻs love together in blessed diversity.

Come and experience Godʻs love in Christ this Sunday, 10 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front St. S., Issaquah, WA, and on YouTube!
