John 13:1-17, 31b-35
Jesus is our Lord and Savior, not despite his vulnerability, but because of it. His strength comes from his weakness, or, maybe more precisely, the fact that he doesn’t shy away from human weakness. Jesus is honest that way. Human life is fragile; any single one of us can get sick any day, die, or lose a loved one or our fortune. Many people try to disguise that fact by pretending to be strong, even invincible, by accumulating power and riches, and keeping their perceived enemies down. But even the richest man on earth can drop down dead in a heartbeat. There is no protection from death other than the promise of eternal life, which Jesus gives us and we receive in faith.
Come and learn more about Jesus’ way of love and kindness this Thursday, 7 PM, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front St. S, Issaquah, and on YouTube.
– Pr. Kristin-Luana
