Matthew 16:13-20
Why would Jesus tell his disciples not to tell anyone he was the Messiah?
To modern Christians, Matthew 16:20 sounds almost absurd. Shouldn’t they shout it from the rooftops?
But Jesus didn’t live in 21st-century America. He lived in a world where honor worked very differently, and once we understand that world, his strange command suddenly makes sense.
This Sunday: “Don’t Tell Anyone!” Matthew 16:13–20 if you want the people to believe you. Amen.
