Acts 9:1-19, From Saul to Paul

The most important figure of early Christianity is the Apostle Paul. “He is an instrument whom I have chosen to bring my name before gentiles and kings and before the people of Israel,” we read in Acts 9.15. Paul is the one who opens the church to non-Jews. Without him, Christianity might still be a sect of Judaism, and the Western World might have continued to worship Jupiter.

As Lutherans, we owe Paul some core insights of Reformation theology. In his letter to the Romans 3:19-28, Paul tells us that justification does not come by works, but by faith and that there is no hierarchy of holiness between people, “since all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” We are all sinners and saints at the same time and are saved by the free gift of God’s grace alone. Grace is the great equalizer among us.

Come this Sunday at 10 AM to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front St. S, Issaquah and on YouTube and learn more about this influential Christian saint!
