John 9:1-41: Though I Was Blind, Now I See
This week, when I worked on my sermon about the man born blind who Jesus gives the gift of sight, the letters which I typed into my computer did not form a traditional sermon, but a short story. My comment is embedded in that story. This happened as I was wondering about the blind man’s perspective. He can see now, that’s for sure! But in the Gospel story, all kinds of people comment on this healing, as if it were “verboten,” a bad thing, a wrong thing. They talk over the man’s head, and nobody takes time to ask about him and how this makes him feel. So, I tried to imagine this story from the perspective of the man born blind. It will be different from what you are used to in a sermon, but it will also provide food for thought.
Come and listen to my story this Sunday, 10 AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 745 Front St S, in Issaquah and on YouTube.
